Historically, a "millwright" was a person who built mills. Many - like my 4 x great-grandfather - built windmills to grind corn. Others built watermills to provide mechanical power to factories.

In modern times the term is applied to any type of mill (except a milling machine as found in a machine shop), regardless of the source of power.
