Compressing nitrogen causes its temperature to increase. This heat of compression is removed with tube and shell water coolers. As the nitrogen leaves the compressors it passes through the E766A/B Aftercoolers, which remove heat with a glycol and water coolant. The coolant is in the shell side of the cooler and the high-pressure nitrogen is in the tube side. These coolers lower the nitrogen temperature to within a few degrees
