ANEMIA DREPANOCÍTICA (SICKLE CELL ANEMIA) Trastorno anémico grave, crónico incurable, que se produce en personas hemocigotas para la hemoglobina S (Hb S). La hemoglobina anormal provoca deformación y fragilidad de los eritrocitos. La anemia drepanocítica se caracteriza por crisis de dolor articular, trombosis y fiebre y por anemia crónica con esplenomegalia, letargo y debilidad. También denominada anemia de células falciformes
