This is related to crowns and crown-related procedures in dentistry. There is a list of items that are covered by a dental plan that reads:

post and core, core buildup, etc., once every five years.

I found out that POST here means PERNO/SOPORTE/PIVOTE (el eje que sirve para fijar una corona artificial en la raiz que queda del diente), but cannot find the meaning of CORE in this context.

Any ideas?

"CORE" in this context, I can with almost 100% certainty assure you, is MUÑÓN. I did quite a bit of research for my over 30 dental conferences, and that's what it is. If I added the "almost" to the "100% certainty" is because I've learned that in human terms there is never really reaches that level. Hope it helps.

P.S. It surprised me (pleasantly) when I heard the native Spanish-speaking dentists talk spontaneously about the "muñón".
