De las otras opciones elijo "aprovechar" porque incluye la idea de contraataque del resto del contexto.

Explanation:
Personalmente, a mí me parecía bien la solución de "coger rebotes". En España lo diríamos así, pero ya que hay quien piensa que no es correcto te mando esta otra opción que creo tiene el mismo sentido. "Tomar rebotes" sin embargo no me gusta; no es una expresión del castellano.
