English term or phrase: pound key/number sign
Please press the pound key (telephone instructions).
carolina
Spanish translation:See below.
Explanation:
Tecla con el signo de número:
I've heard this a thousand times when dialing my grandmother: "Oprima la tecla con el signo de número"...Which means "press the pound key"
"gato" is also used, however I think the "tecla con el signo de número" is much better.

Hope this helps!

Explanation:
carolina,
Estuve hablando con una persona que trabaja en la compañía telefónica de Chile y me dijo que esa tecla se le llamam tecla de rediscado abreviado (no la tecla de rediscado común y corriente]
Mucha gente le llama la tecla del gato (Gato es el juego del tic tac toc en Chile]
Sé que esto es muy informal pero si averiguo otra coasa, te lo haré saber.

Oprima (Pulse) la tecla de rediscado abreviado.

Surete,
Luis

Explanation:
This is just to tell you that I forgot to mention also the same explanation Kropotkin gave you. The person I talked to also mentioned a very similar phrase: Oprima la tecla del signo para número.
