Part of the problem id that many reporters tend to absorb the language of their sources and consider it normal. But the sources are often activists bending language to push private agendas.
Cover the disability-right movement long enough, and you, too, may find yourself tapping out \\\"mentally and physically challenged\\\", although you may not be the shoghtest verbally challenged yourself.
