English term or phrase: Twinkie.
The Twinkie has been one of the greatest success stories in the history of junk food, and today is eaten by adoring fans the world over.

No tengo la menor idea de qué es Twinkie.
¿Alguna buena sugerencia?

Spanish translation:In Mexico, they are called Twinky Wonder
Explanation:
There is no translation, although there are similar products on sale...

Since you are talking about a product, I would think you would either leave it in English or find a translation that is similar to the target market (Mexico, Latin America, South America, etc.).

If you leave it in English, you can place a Translator's footnote and state a translation for a certain market, e.g., known in Mexico as Twinky Wonder...

Good luck!

Twinkie

Explanation:
Dejarlo como "Twinkie". Es el nombre propio de un dulce (panque con relleno de crema).

leave in English

Explanation:
I do recommend though, that you check with the manufacturer. I wasn't sure, since I was never into it, so I did www.wonder.com and www.twinkie.com, and nothing came up. Try contacting the manufacturer and see what they're using, unless, of course, your doing something FOR the manufacturer, which is what's leaving you at a dead end!

Good luck!

HOSTESS is the manufacturer

Explanation:
Hi,

In the US, Twinkies are manufactured by the HOSTESS company (which I believe is affiliated with WONDER) -- everyone who has answered is basically correct so far, with the exception of the US manufacturer of this sweet pastry, which is commonly eaten as a part of lunch in grammar schools and high schools by the students. Very fattening, I might add!

pastelillo / pastelito Tuinky (o simplemente Tuinky)

Explanation:
This is how it's known in Mexico.

Other Spanish speaking countries might have different names for it.

It's a small, rectangular-shaped soft cake, with very sweet vanilla cream filling.

twinkie

Explanation:
because it is a brand name, you should not change it, but you can give an explanation, as a foot note, of what a twinkie is, as everybody else has said a small cake filled with cream.

twinky o pastelillo relleno

Explanation:
en México hay una marca llamada "Twinky Wonder", y Marinela, una compañìa de Bimbo del Norte, maneja una lìnea de pastelillos conocida como "Submarinos". Yo pienso que puedes traducirlo como pastelillo relleno (Twinky), dejando su nombre original en inglès entre paréntesis, como normalmente se maneja al traducir algo con marca.
