2) Bachelor of Science significa que es Licenciado en Ciencias, ¿no? Entonces, ¿se aplicaría para un Lic. en Ciencias Sociales o en Ciencias de la Educación?

1) La abreviatura de Bachelor of Science es BSc
Explanation:
2)Sí, BSc equivale a Licenciatura. Pero habría que ver si Ciencias de la Educación cae bajo BSC (Bachelor in Science) o BA (Bachelor of Arts, o sea Licenciado en Humanidades). No he visto Bachelor of Education in la lista de Routledge.
Las categorías que enumera Routledge son las siguientes:
* Bachelor of Arts (BA) - Licenciado en Humanidades
* Bachelor of Business Administration - Licenciado en Administración de Empresas
* Bachelor of Comerce (BCom) - Licenciado en Comercio

¿Diplomatura?


Explanation:
Sobre la abreviatura he encontrado B.S. aunque no "suena" muy bien .Pero yo creía que Bachelor era más bien Diplomatura y Master´s Degree, Licenciatura. Si el Master´s es más que el Bachelor... eso equivaldría a la Licenciatura y Diplomatura respectivamente (Esp.) ¿no?

disagree  Raist (X): Licenciatura es Bachelor. Un Master es un estudio de postgrado por llamarlo de alguna manera y no es más que un curso de enseñanza no-reglada..

  -> De acuerdo. Muchas gracias por la aclaración. Sé lo que en España es un Master pero me lié cuando en EEUU convalidaron mi Licenciatura española como Master´s Degree. Gracias de nuevo.

You don't necessarily have to study "science" to get a B.S. degree or study any "arts" to get a B.A. I have a B.S in Spanish and Community Health. Please read the following:

Professor Arthur Levine discusses the difference between the BA and BS on pages 162-63 of his book, Handbook on Undergraduate Curriculum:


...the bachelor of arts (BA) and the bachelor of science (BS) are the most common of the baccalaureate degrees. Ninety-nine percent of four-year arts and sciences colleges and 25 percent of four-year professional/technical colleges offer the bachelor of arts degree. The bachelor of science is awarded by 82 percent of four-year arts and sciences colleges and 85 percent of professional/technical colleges (Catalog Study, 1976). No universal differences separate the two degrees. Both consist of general education, a major, electives, and sometimes basic skills components. As Chapter 2 noted, the BS is likely to require more courses in the major than the BA; the BS is awarded significantly more often in the natural sciences than in the humanities; and the BA is used four times as often by arts and sciences colleges than professional/technical schools. Beyond this, differences depend on individual college policies, including (1) offering students a choice of degrees with no distinction between them; (2) requiring more advanced courses for the BS; (3) offering fewer electives in the BS program; (4) requiring a minor for the BS; (5) requiring a thesis or project for the BS; and (6) having different general education requirements for the BS (at such schools, the BA program is likely to require slightly more general education) (Catalog Study, 1976)."
