Dont get me wrong. I know the meaning and possible translations. Its just that I'm building my resume in spanish and want an appropiate equivalent for the matter. The term isn't used in a normal curriculums in spanish.

Dado el caso que este término se quiere utilizar en el currículo, el vocablo "habilidades" se refiere a la capacidad del individuo para hacer algo en el sentido de las destrezas que posee para ello, ya sea intelectual o manualmente. Precisamente esa es la función social de las instituciones docentes en la formación de los estudiantes: "formar en ellos las capacidades, habilidades y destrezas para su futura actividad laboral". Por lo tanto en un currículo deberán reflejarse las habilidades y destrezas que el individuo es capaz de acometer con mayor utilidad para el puesto de trabajo que aspira obtener.

Explanation:
In a way it depends on who you are sending your cv to. Many of the international cos use a programme to search cv databases and some, even in Spain, will continue to use "skills". Indeed it is often used in business especially in the multinational cos in Spain. If you don't like that I would opt for "competencia". A CV is just a sales document so think about who you hope will be reading it. hope this helps

En un sentido general, la palabra skill define la aptitud o capacidad para llevar a cabo una determinada actividad. Sin embargo, deberíamos adecuarla al contexto en el que la estemos utilizando. Por ejemplo, "the english skills of somebody" se traduciría por el nivel de conocimientos de lengua inglesa del individuo.
