English term or phrase: mock wedding /
Entiendo que simularon la ceremonia porque el padre estaba en el hospital, pero los calificativos que se me ocurren hacen que parezca un engaño.

Por otro lado traduje "poignant" por "intenso" pero me parece que es más fuerte aún. ¿Se les ocurre algo?
Gracias.

Me quedo con simulacro y conmovedor. Mucha gente se merecía puntos y de haber podido repartirlos hubiera necesitado más de cuatro.
Gracias a todos

boda simulada / momentos conmovedores

Explanation:
The English word "mock" also carries that ambiguity of implying either a "simulacion" or a "burla." So if you think "simulada" can suggest some kind of "engano," it is not too different from the usage in the original text. The word "poignant," on the other hand, in this context means "conmovedor" rather than "intenso," despite its etymology.

simulacro de boda, conmovedor

Explanation:
Estuve viendo varios sitios en Internet con "mock wedding". En algunos casos eran un ensayo previo a la boda y en otros, era una farsa...

Pienso que si se emplea "simulacro de boda" se transmite cualquiera de ambas ideas. (Si bien es tu caso en particular, intuyo que es un ensayo de la celebración formal).

Un abrazo,

mordaz

Explanation:
"poignant" also means "mordaz" (Cuyas Dictionary English/Spanish-Spanish/English ). Para mi falta contexto. "Mock" no siempre tiene connotación negativa: en metodología los alumnos escriben "mock plans" que son "planes de ensayo/ planes de práctica". De todas formas,¿que tipo de literatura es?

boda de mentiras

Explanation:
It seems to me that it was the sort non-standard wedding that paralells those done by formerly famous entertainment personaities now on the wane in order to get their pictures in the (paying) magazines. Those are currently known as "bodas de mentiras". For example, "officiated by the High Priestess of the Koogamoratxi tribe in Lower Slobbovia"
