That is, if time is spent with new staff blah blah, that will invalidate the need for what is stated earlier, whether it's the time introducing to new staff to other staff members or structure or what's under (...). Then, the sentence would go like this: "En lugar de (Invalidando) lo indicado se podrá pasar un tiempo con el nuevo miembro de la plantilla explicandole sus objetivos y metas". Note: "this" ("de lo indicado", better than "de esto"); "their" ("sus", his or her, it refers to the staff member and it's used in plural to avoid "sexism" with his or her); "Goals and objectives": quite redundant, they're both the same thing. I would go for just "objetivos" but I placed "objetivos y metas" to keep up with the pomp; "podrá" is the auxiliary that makes more sense to me, but you could also say "deberá" if it's a real MUST, if there's no choice. The word is not that usual and is more frequently seen in legal contexts.
