Explanation:
La respuesta de mi colega DGAH ES es totalmente correcta, e incluso sería válida para España, donde existe, desde hace algunos años el empleo de suboficial mayor. Hay algunas diferencias conceptuales entre los empleos de ambos paises, pero la traducción más adecuada del término sería esa.

There is no difference for this term from the Chilean, Colombian, Ecuadorian forces to the Spanish force. Having worked with UNITAS forces I am more than sure about this. I agree with other colleagues.
