cuy, cobayo, conejillo de indias

Explanation:

Explanation:
(in correct English = guinea pig)

talking about the animal (as in context for a petshop) it shoud be refered to as:

cobayo or cuy

the expression "conejillo de Indias" is mostly used for being a victim- for being experimented with - of a research project / laboratory / also in the political context etc.
"me están usando como conejillo de Indias"
(in German: Versuchskaninchen)

hope this helps

conejillo de indias

Explanation:

cobaya

Explanation:
In Spain the most extended translation is "cobaya".
While in South America it is known as "cuy"
The term "conejillo de indias" is used when someone or something is going to be used to carry out an experiment.

So, I would use "cobaya" or "cuy" depending on the person you are talking to, Spaniard or South American.
Hope it helps!!
