El contexto de la frase es el rugby. Como desconozco el reglamento y la terminología en castellano de este deporte, no sé si la traducción debe ser "batir la melé", "deshacer la melé" u otra cosa. Alguna idea?

en el modo figurado, supone hacer algo antes de que todo el mundo pretenda hacer lo mismo. "adelántese a la avalancha de público".

por hacer una frase spanglish, podría ser algo así como "beat the scrum, haga ahora sus compras de navidad"

el ejemplo inglés siguiente es bastante explicativo y además se aplica a la venta de mercaderías del rugby:
