The broadcast television industry encompassed four groups of players: advertisers, producers, networks and SYNDICATORS...
After a series completed its run on a network, its reruns could be "syndicated" or sold to local stations. Networks often lowered their programming expenditures by promising producers a percentage of a show's syndication revenues instead of paying its full production cost.
