zorra del desierto (zorro del desierto)

Explanation:
The standard procedure for finding animal names in other languages is to look for the Latin name then search for the Latin name in the target language.

In this case, Vulpes macrotis is
la zorra norteña (Vulpes macrotis)(http://maya.ucr.edu/pril/reservas/mapimi/mapimi6.html)or Vulpes velox (http://www.conabio.gob.mx/biodiversitas/perros.htm)
Zorra del desierto (http://www.ine.gob.mx/ucanp/index8.html, http://www.cicimar.ipn.mx/DesTec/Vizcaino/Proyvizc.htm)

The term most often used in Mexico seems to be "zorra del desierto". Would anybody like to comment "zorra/zorro"? In Spain, the term "zorra" is only used for two-legged foxes.

As a card-carrying ecologist, I hang around with a lot of zoologists.

zorro de orejas largas

Explanation:
Estimada Norma,
