English term or phrase:farmer's market
On a resume, the person was a manager of a county farmer's market.
Explanation: I offer the following explanation for future reference.
It is NOT a farmer's (possesive) market but a Farmers Market. This is usually a state run or other municipally organized center for the distribution and sale of SEASONAL agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, Xmas trees, and products made from these such as jellies, pies, vinegars, etc. The North Carolina Dept. of Agriculture provides a location in Raleigh and the manager of this market oversees more than 200 farm vendors. There are also warehouses on the premises that provide products in bulk at wholesale prices to restaurants, stores, etc. Atlanta, Georgia has a major farmers market and each state probably has some supported by their respective depts. of agriculture. The products usually have to be certified as having been grown by the vendor/farmer within some specified radius of the market to be recognized as "local" produce. Usually there are other vendors that import produce from other locations and they are recognized as "not local" and are housed in separate facilities close by. I have attended many farmers markets in different parts of the world and they are a quick study of the country's agricultural offerings. Sorry for the length of this explanation but it is a colorful destination in many locations for tourists, also. Awatts
