Le agrego algo inventado para que aparezca en contexto y se vea mejor…
Se fue durmiendo mientras escuchaba el sonido de la botella que rodaba, iba y venía, a través del marco de la puerta.
Mientras leía, escuchaba el sonido de la botella rodando, iba y venía, entraba y salía de la habitación al compás de las olas.

Esto de traducir un escrito poético o en prosa es casi como escribirlo todo de nuevo, ¿no? Depende de cada uno. Inventiva, habilidad con las palabras, etc.
