English term or phrase: morning levees
Proverbs 27:14: "He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him."
We cannot tell whether ***morning levees*** were in use among the Israelites in Solomon's time, as they afterwards were among some other nations. If they were, there is no doubt that persons who wished to thrust themselves into favor with their superiors would take the opportunity to appear among the first to pay their court.
