SEE EXPLANATION Explanation: Hi Again! If my esteemed colleagues don't object (and I'll soon know if they do), I would like to ADD a little something to my previous answer: "de alcance". So, my answer would now read: "disposiciones [o, cláusulas] 'de alcance' ambiguo. To be perfectly honest, I DID originally have that in mind but in my haste to answer..it slipped away:-) Regards... tb. Exp. |

disposiciones para el precio de un producto que no toman en consideración el costo de la investigaci Explanation: I see no way around it but to give an explanatory translation of it. By the definition "`Reach-through licensing' is licensing of technology/intellectual property, typically patent rights, with royalties based on a percentage of sales, where the licensed technology/intellectual property, such as basic research, is not incorporated into the end product. Despite criticism,[1] reach- through licensing creates a licence the value of which can be measured, and thus solves the problem of valuing basic research per se. Indeed, the value of basic research may not be known at the time of the licence and is usually not known until after production of the end product. Thus, reach-through licensing may be necessary to compensate for use of a basic research invention - either contractually through a licence between the parties, or as a damages award in an infringement action." See http://www.pharmalicensing.com/features/disp/963567614_396ed... Who knows, maybe a standard, "frozen" equivalent already exists ("de cotización directa" perhaps? It is "reach-through" because the price is established "straight through" without considering the initial investment in Research). However, above you will find the definition in English as it stands. Quite frankly, I can't understand the levity with which some translations have been offered here. Can't you see the ramifications of putting something like "de alcance" or whatever--in short, words that have NOTHING absolutely to do with the actual meaning in context of a term. No wonder some many colleagues are turned off by Proz.com, in spite of all its good features. Some research is warranted before one gives one's opinion. Let's leave it at that.
