Anyone knows what GP surgery stands for in England? Is it similar to a Forensic in the US?

Explanation:
En Inglaterra, a General Practitioner, es el médico de medicina general al cual uno acude en el NHS (National Health Service).

No necesiarement significa el médico de cabacera al que siempre uno acude ya que en práctica cualquier GP en el NHS de tu distrito te puede examinar.

Personalmente lo traduciría:
El médico de tu (su) consultorio local.....

Me falto explicarte que "local surgery" se refiere al NHS local del que estaba hablando que es un consultorio en tu distrito o pueblo.

Your GP is your "General Practioner" or "general doctor" - "su médico de cabecera" in Spanish.
Your local GP surgery is "su centro de salud". In Spain it is not really necessary to specify "local" as each person is allotted their nearest "health centre" and this is where they would get in contact with (possible to say "centro de salud más cercano").

Consulta del médico de familia o consulta del médico de cabecera


Explanation:
Son los términos más corrientes en España y equivalentes al GP inglés del NHS británico. También se habla en España del "Centro de salud" sin tener que especificar "local" puesto que siempre se acude al más cercano al domicilio.

Es equivalente al "family doctor" or "physician" americano. No creo que GP sea igual a "forensic" pero en Inglaterra puede ser que sea el GP el que certifique la muerte de una persona.

Yo traduciría en este contexto: "Debe ponerse en contacto con su centro de salud y un médico acudirá para certificar la defunción del paciente."

También en Inglaterra, GP = "General Practicioner" pero en este contexto, siento que se están referiendo al "Family Doctor" y "Surgery" en este caso es el consultorio u oficina. Entonces, sugeriría poner en español: "Ponerse en contact con la oficina de su doctor familiar [o doctor de cabecera]".

Explanation:
GP's (médicos de cabecera) do not perform any surgery "on the premises" in Spain. They refer you to the "especialista".

THe "especialistas" work in "centros de especialidades" and in them you will find different departments (i.e, physiotherapy, diagestive, "otorrino" or ear&throat specialist). The "especialista" will do an in-depth check or minor surgery, referring you to the hospital for larger, more serious operations.
