Explanation: When I read the answer alcatraz I wondered because those are gannets and people refer to " gannets and boobies" so I didn't think they could be one and the same. ALSO it seemed to me that I remembered from school in Mexico that they had a silly name like booby (in Spanish). Well, after much research I got the answer from the island they come from. They are indeed the BOBOS DE PATOS AZULES literally blue footed booby - in fact that is where WE got the term from - from the bobo birds.See below:A Natural History of Isla San Pedro Martir
