The NTSB released a ground breaking "Personal Watercraft Safety" study in 1998 that identified the hazards associated with "Off Throttle Steering Loss" (OTSL). Many PWC's have top speed in excess of 50 mph, or more. Once the throttle is released ,the PWC will coast for over 100 yards. With most PWC's there is no steering control while the PWC is coasting. And there is no brake system.
