English term or phrase:Tribal Brother
I haven't been able to find even a definition for this term. It seems to me that it's simply a member of one's tribe (in the sense of fraternity brother), but I'd like to be sure or have sources to back that up, as well as a Spanish equivalent.
Sorry about that! It's from my thesis. I'm translating part of a book about an American woman who goes to a village in Irak with her husband in the 50's. The whole sentence is: "Almost every week visitors came to the sheik's mudhif to look over the American strangers: schoolteachers... relatives and TRIBAL BROTHERS of Sheik Hamid who wanted to talk politics with the foreigners that Hamid had imported."
