El break point no es para ganar un partido es para "quebrar" un servicio. Se supone que quien sirve lleva la ventaja y debe ganar los puntos para ganar el "game". Cuando el que no está sirviendo está en 40 se dice que hay " break point" pues si gana el proximo servicio que sirve el otro quiebra el servicio

Cuando solo falta un punto se llama match point
y si es para ganar el set se llama set point.

Es que no creo que break point sea "the state of a game when the side receiving service needs only one more point to win the game" Mi humilde opinión

Cuando el que no está sirviendo está en 40 se dice que hay " break point" pues si gana el proximo servicio que sirve el otro quiebra el servicio. Corrijo: Si no gana el que está sirviendo, le quiebran el servicio.

Muchas veces se escucha a los comentaristas utilizar la expresión 'punto de break', por eso la indico, pero si lo quieres traducir me parece más correcto emplear 'bola/pelota/punto de ruptura de servicio', o bien 'bola para romper el servicio del oponente'.

Rara vez los periodistas usan "punto de quiebre" -que es totalmente válido- para referirse al 30-40 o ventaja de quien recibe en un game. Normalmente jugadores, profesores, periodistas usan "break point".
