El dicc. enciclopédico de Javier Collazo da también otro término específicamente para tornillos y roscas: "avance". "Paso" también se utiliza para cables y cadenas, lo mismo que para la distancia entre dos perforaciones consecutivas de la película y también en imprenta se utiliza.
