Gracias Robert, Claudia y Cindy, los tres me habéis sido de gran ayuda, sobre todos los enlaces. Parece ser que todo el mundo usa chevrón, pero me decanto por cheurón, que al menos es una palabra que existe en castellano.

Explanation:
I don't know what the exact word is in Spanish, but the "chevrons" are usually raised areas in different patterns (V-shaped or herringbone, for example) on the surface of the conveyor belt that help pull materials, especially loose materials, up steep inclines. If you look at the links below you will see drawings of some of the different patterns available.

The closest I have seen to an expression in Spanish was on the following page

Where they use "bandas nervadas" for something similar (there's a photo).
