English term or phrase: basement developer
About web services companies, Internet consultants, etc. He/she offers development services from his/her basement. ¿basement as sótano? ¿basement as cimientos?

basement developed...
Explanation:

I looked under 'basement (software) delevoper/delelopment' and this is what I found.

I'm no expert on IT but the geniuses that design software are often of the 'batty inventor working from the basement' kind. No 1 is an interview with one called Maddog (perro loco, gettit?) No 2 is a company gone out of business, but the name's meaningful. No 3 asks some rhetorical questions about standard software - the gist is that some people aren't happy with standard software, and if not, get a 'genius in a basement' to design it.

I suggest you put the term in italics in brackets, with a literal translation, and translate it as 'freelance development/designer' or something equivalent & safe.

Oh-Oh!

Just found a software development METHOD called BASEMENT

No 4:
The project will be based on the Basement software development method proposed in the VIA project [Basement] (which includes an outline of a signal-flow based design language). The main concept in Basement is a design notation based Software Circuits (SCs). It has been designed and developed based on the experience of control engineers with an emphasis on applicability. However from the point of view of computer scientists the development of SC is behind the development in programming methodology. It still contains semantic ambiguities and in fact, no formal semantics is provided which makes precise reasoning impossible.
