En inglés británico la palabra "finisher" hablando de automóviles,´¿cómo se traduciría si aparece aislada?. Y en el siguiente contexto "rear backlight encapsulation finisher" ¿Por qué "rear" y "backlight" a la vez?

The rear backlight encapsulation finisher has been deleted from all models from the above VIN. To prevent excessive gaps between glass and aperture following deletion, the glass width and height has been increased by 10mm.

Explanation:
sólo otra opción, aunque inspirada en la primera respuesta del colega, para responder a tus preguntas:
1) la luz de marcha atrás trasera (la blanca que se enciende cuando das marcha atrás) no siempre va atrás: a veces es lateral, y en algunos casos está situada en la luneta trasera del vehículo.
2) "finisher" suelen traducirlo así las empresas de automoción, entre otras cosas porque (me consta) que "acabado" en ciertos países tiene connotaciones sexuales. ¡Ahí te quedas con el Mitsubishi Pajero! ;-))
