It's a tool; the only references I have been able to find are related to a small lifting equipment (not likely here) and something like a saw.

The term appears twice in my text:
Use a mighter box, yours might be like this or it might be aluminum. Put your pencil mark where the saw goes.

Use the mighter box, or saw and cutting block, to cut the wood at a perfect angle.

Any handy translator who knows the Spanish name?

Definitivamente se trata de un error de escritura. La palabra correcta es "miter", que yo he visto utilizada como nombre y como verbo (to miter corners - cortar las esquinas en ángulo).
