English to Spanish translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering
English term or phrase: 1.2 billion and 1,150 billion
How do we read these two figures in Spanish?
1 billion is mil millones or un millardo in Spanish.
Is 1.2 billion read as "mil millones doscientos mil"?

How about 1, 150 billion? (That is a comma between 1 and 150)
How do we read that in English? Is it "one thousand one hundred and fifty billion?
Is it "un billón 150 millones" in Spanish?

Thanks for your input,

Luis

Spanish translation:1.2 billion = 1.200 millones; 1,150 billion = 1.150.000.000.000
Explanation:
1.2 billion = 1.200 millones;
1,150 billion = 1.150.000.000.000, es decir, un billón ciento cincuenta mil millones (puesto que nuestro billón equivale a un millón de millones).

Thanks a lot for your prompt replies.
I chose "ablines", but I also give my personal kudos to "nexus" and "andino" since the three of them agreed in the same answer.
Thanks again.

Explanation:
US Espana/LATAM
1,200,000,000,000 = 1.200.000.000.000
Espana = 1 200 000 000 000
mil doscientos millones o un millardo doscientos millones; millardo, en general, se usa en el espanol europeo; billon como mil millones esta aceptado para Norteamerica, ver la ultima edicion del DRAE

1,150,000,000,000
One billion one hundred fifty million
Mil ciento cincuenta millones
Un millardo ciento cincuenta millones
Un billon ciento cincuenta millones (de nuevo, solo para Norteamerica, ver la ultima edicion del DRAE)

Espero que la respuesta haya satisfecho a plenitud la consulta.

mil doscientos millones

Explanation:
1.2 billion (American billion, that is, a thousand million) would read "mil doscientos millones".
1,150 billion (again, American billions) would read "un billón, cientocincuenta mil millones" in Spanish. In American English I would say "one trillion, one hundred fifty billion".
Note: Forget the "millardos", it's a Gallicism and is not correct Spanish.

1200 millones, 1 billón 150 mil millones

Explanation:
Concuerdo con la respuesta de ablines. 1,150 billion es "one thousand one hundred and fifty billion". La coma tiene en inglés el valor decimal que en español tiene el punto.
