English to Spanish translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
English term or phrase:default
I have four different translations for it - "predeterminado", "por defecto", "predefinido" and "default". Which one is more suitable and which one might be incorrect?
Explanation: state "reestablecer a valores predeterminados" which, although lengthier, is, in my belief, a more accurate translation of default. I would like to add though that sometimes in other media the word is left untranslated.
Explanation: These three are the most common translations, but you might see also "default", but this is a problem for non-english speakers, because it`s not a spanish term.
"Por defecto" is the best one for me, so i suggest that you use it, too. Of course, I leave it to your own choice,
If you are dealing with a software context use "predeterminado" as in valor predeterminado. This is the translation that Microsoft uses. Below I have put the address where you can download the terminology lists that Microsoft provide free for developers.
It will take quite a while.
