This is for a warning for a trip to a park.

Chiggers = garrapatas?

That is the only thing I could find in the dictionary
and that I remember hearing back in Mexico.

Una nigua es un insecto americano parecido a una pulga.

Nigua


Explanation:
Insecto acaro que vive en las arenas y que es horadador de la epidermis. Con sus feces crea molestias de carácter infecioso. En la antigüedad se utilizaba una pomada mezclada con presipitado rojo (lease mercurio) para tratar estas invaciones parasíticas. Es un aracnido parasito de la familia de las arañas.
