Jag har också hittat en förklaring: "Directional pattern: Tread patterns characterised by lateral grooves on both sides of the tyre which point in the same direction." (http://www.tyres-online.co.uk/techinfo/patterns.asp)
Men vad ska det heta på svenska? Den översättare jag granskar har försökt med "riktmönster", som dock ger 0 träffar på Google. Finns det överhuvudtaget en svensk yterm?

Nokian talar om däck med \"angiven rullriktning\". Kanske kan man tillämpa begreppet på däcksmönster också?
