Medical - Medical (general)
English term or phrase: hair shot
The context is patient instructions for a clinical trial using drug delivery pumps and infusion sets. If the patient suspects that the infusion set is occluded, they should remove the infusion set and then:

"To make sure this is really occluded, you will perform a hair shot of your medicine and look at the flow of the medicine in the infusion set: if the medicine is blocked, there is an occlusion which is confirmed. "

agree  Anette Herbert: It seems the likely answer - that the "n" in "an air shot" has somewhere been transformed to the "h" in "a hair shot". http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6514230-claims.html
