NRK har rätt. Arameiska är också det språk som Judendomens Talmud är skriven på. Arameiska talades bland annat i Babylonien. Efter det att det första templet förstördes 586 BCE förslavades majoriteten av det judiska folket och fördes till Babylonien, där en rik judisk tradition utvecklades. Arameiska talas i viss utsträckning fortfarande bland judiska lärde.
