English term or phrase: does any word begin with bumb and end in orn?
my boyfriend knows Arabic, Swedish, French, English, and Persian.... I saw a word that started with 'bumb' and ended with 'orn' on a piece of paper. I think it also had and 'ij' or 'ji' after the 'bumb'.... just wondering what the word might have meant.

Swedish translation:Bumbibjörn
Explanation:
Could it be "bumbibjörn" which I think is a figure in a cartoon? Björn is bear as has been explained previously.

Explanation:
As far as I know, no words in Swedish start with "bumb" - there are no hits in any of my dictionaries; the same as for the ending "orn" - I can't think of any word ending in "orn" right now.

Hope it helps.

pungbjörn

Explanation:
I did also browse my dictionary, looking for something "next to best".

Maybe you read wrong, or the word was wrong spelled?

However - this word is the closest I could find. Maybe you will not read it right, because of the US character set that does not support the special Swedish character set. However the "o" in bjorn shall be with 2 dots over it, like in the name of the group "Motörhead"...

Pungbjörn = Coala, a small cute bear that lives in Australia.

Can be used "sweet" like in "darling coala" in Swedish, or bad as in "damned coala". The last use is what I would think however... (if you don't know the person very very well...)

bumbibjörn

Explanation:
Dumt förslag kanske, men det finns en tecknad TV-filmserie för barn från Walt Disney som heter "Bumbibjörnarna" (jag vet inte vad originaltiteln är). Det finns som sagt inte så många svenska ord som börjar med "bumb".
