Greetings,

I am completely unable to decipher و یا لااقل – I don't even understand it it's one, two or three items.

In the piece I am reading, the poetess Makhfi waits all night long in vain for her lover, no doubt feeling very frustrated and upset; however, the fact is that her lover truly loves her and has stayed at home only to avoid a plot to catch them in the act and punish them.

Makhfi writes:

شنیدم ترک منزل کرد عاقل خان به نادانی

Her lover عاقل خان answers:

چرا عاقل کند کاری که بار آرد پشیمانی
؟

My problem is with part of what follows (to be specific و یا لااقل):

و بدین ترکیب اگرچه این دو دلداده از ترس تعصب شدید اطرافیان به وصال هم و یا لااقل به دیدار یکدیگر نائل نشدند، ولی ببرکت عقل عاقل خان از خطر عظیمی که هر دو را تهدید میکرد در امان ماندند
