plat flat Explanation: It sounds as if this unusual nut has 16 flats, instead of the more usual 6 or perhaps 12; it's possible also they are in fact talking about the spanner needed to undo it with — 16 plats could possible suggest a spanner (or socket) suitable for a 4-sided nut, for example. Impossible to be sure without more context to go on — although I think the meaning of the actual term asked appears to be clear enough. |
