retaining an element of the latter Explanation: we find that promoting the former implies retaining an element of the latter "promoting" rather than "the promotion of", as a verbal noun is more natural in E while nominalization ("la promotion") is more French. |

I think that "l’une garde dans ses replis la présence de l’autre" works in a similar way. |
