Bonding and the providing of guarantees Explanation: L'octroi de garanties doesn't necessarily mean security guarantees. It would need a word meaning "securities" to be clearly referring to that; whatever the object is, that's the thing being guaranteed. For instance, l'octroi de garanties de prêt = loan guarantees (i.e. A borrows money from B, and C, the Belgian company, guarantees that loan, i.e., promises B that if A fails to pay it all back then C will pay it). So without a word indicating what's to be guaranteed (loans, securities, etc.), I would just say the granting (or underwriting, or providing) of guarantees. As for cautionnements, I think that's a specific type of guarantee, a la construction bonds ("If A doesn't build this building they've contracted to build, then we will get it finished, and at the same cost to you that A originally promised"). So the translation would be bonding. |
