French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Drainage and sewage systems
French term or phrase: dépotoir
The term appears in a tender spec originating from Switzerland. I think it may be a specifically Swiss term in this context.

"Prestations nécessaires au respect des lois fédérales, aux directives des services cantonaux et communaux pour la protection de l'environnement, construction, exploitation et entretien de stations d'épuration, fosses de décantation, bassins de retenues, dépotoirs etc., y compris collecteurs de raccordement"

"Fourniture et pose de chambres de visite EC ou EU... y compris dépotoir pour chambres EC, hauteur min 100 cm"

https://tinyurl.com/wgt9mc6 suggests it's a storm drain, but suspect it might be a sludge trap. No pure guesswork please.

Pretty sure this is a "sludge trap" as you suspected!

Sedimentation tank/settling tank/clarifier

waste liquid gets into the sedimentation tank, where solid particles separate from the liquid (a kind of purification process).

gully trap

...since you cite one meter in dimension, I'd imagine this to be more a "gully trap" than a sludge type typically of much smaller proportions...?

"A gully trap is a basin in the ground that receives piped wastewater from your house before it enters the underground sewer (wastewater pipe)."

Notes to answerer
Asker: I've just added another example to the Discussion field above. This one has a 38-cm "dépotoir".
