French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation
French term or phrase: chaînés en entrée
Context: The document is describing the instrumentation and control of the AAA system (valves, temperature sensors, etc.). This particular paragraph is describing the I&C of the principal pump which is controlled by an external system, PPP, that protects the entire installation.

Pompe AAA i210PO

"Encl" stands for Enclencher "Decl" stands for Déclencher

I don't know how to translate "ces ordres sont chaînés en entrée".

serial input commands

Not totally sure about this, but it seems to be saying that the input instructions are in series/sequential. However, someone out there may know better...

Asker: Thanks Chris for your suggestion. I finally used "chained inputs" which I found used in a similar context. - The eight CTs of each generator are connected to a common re-triggering box, which is located in the same generator. The output of each re-triggering box is connected to the input of the trigger units of all other generators. A chained input/output system has been chosen instead of a star system because it is faster. Since each CT has enough energy to trigger all power trigger modules, there is no stored energy in the system itself. This minimizes the risk of creating spurious triggers, even when a cable is being disconnected or a trigger source is defective.

Possibly the signal is transmitted and retransmitted over and over again until the device in question reacts and returns an acknowledgment ...

You know how when your computer is busily processing something, you can hit a key repeatedly and nothing will happen because the system is (presumably) too busy to know the key has even been pressed.

Or when little Johnny is too absorbed in his video game to hear he is being called to dinner. Without raising your voice, if you just keep calling, there will come a time when your call will coincide with momentary distraction from the game and he will get the message (whether or not he reacts to that information is another matter).

Asker: I don't think this will fit because the PPP is an important safety system. The pump would react immediately (we hope!!). I like the story about little Johnny though. My daughter is just like that when I ask her to start her homework :).
