French term or phrase: était le sien
This is in a commercial lease for a building - queried terms in the asterisks.

If I understand rightly the Lessor has developed management techniques and tools for the management and maintenance of the Building and wants the Lessee to cover the costs???

So "development of management techniques .... which were its own" but this does not really sound right to me.

It says 'était', referring to 'niveau de qualité', not 'étaient'. So it's 'in its condition at the beginning of the lease'.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Sorry typo with the "were"

Asker: I was thinking that etait referred back to the development - this is a loooong document and my mind is sometimes a bit overloaded. Your answer makes sense!
