The number of Google hits mysteriously decreases from 173,000 to 22 when you go to the second page of hits, so it appears to be an almost nonexistent word. But both of my references mention the printing industry, so "scanner operator" is a reasonable assumption.

agree  Didier Fourcot: Rather jargon, but in graphics industry worl, forged after "linotypiste", "rotativiste" or similar job names, I already heard it in printing premises, never seen it in writing in the texts I work on
