This is a contract assigning the benefit of a life assurance policy to a bank to guarantee loans granted to a third party.

Does the term simply mean "primary beneficiary"?

Le Cessionnaire et le Souscripteur ont convenu que le Cessionnaire, en garantie des engagements que le Crédité a pris sous la Convention de Crédit (ci-après dénommés « les Engagements ») vis-à-vis du Cessionnaire, obtienne à son profit les créances et droits issus du Contrat, à savoir :
1. la désignation du Cessionnaire comme bénéficiaire principal et de premier rang du Contrat ainsi que
2. le transfert au profit du Cessionnaire de tous les droits et de toutes les options résultant du Contrat incluant notamment le droit de rachat total ou partiel, le droit de réduction et le droit d’avance ainsi que le transfert du bénéfice du Contrat, à savoir le droit de percevoir toutes les créances actuelles ou futures que le Souscripteur pourrait avoir contre l’Assureur relativement au Contrat, incluant notamment les bénéfices, bonus, profits, valeurs de rachat, dividendes et tout autre montant qui peuvent se cumuler ou devenir exigibles conformément au Contrat pour couvrir le Cessionnaire jusqu’à concurrence des sommes dues ou qu’il pourrait lui devoir .
