Is this simply "purchases" or is there something more involved here requiring jargon?

The execution of buy orders in question relates to a security, which underlines derivatives. In other words, the security in question is bought several times a part of derivative contracts.

Explanation:
La réalisation d’opérations à l’achat sur le titre en prenant des positions, via des instruments dérivés (CFD, spreadbets), sur le sous-jacent en question, et juste avant la publication de la rumeur

execution of operations leading to acquiring "le titre" (most likely shares, but with the limited context, it's not 100% sure), by taking positions in associated/linked derivatives ....

disagree  Francois Boye: how good is your translation if you do not understand what the 'titre' is?

-> when you start spotting the difference between a derivative and what the derivative is a derivative of, then check what a "title" is English could mean ... and anyway title/share/security whatever is not part of this question, "derivative" IS

disagree  Daryo: next word: "sur le titre" // small fly in the ointment: the next part of the sentence says that the effective "buying" was not direct: they bought derivatives based on the "title", NOT the "title" itself!
