mostly, it is either (nulle = zero or invalid),
if its a letter count then it should mean number of letters = 0

disagree  David Wright: the nulle is adjectival to lettre; it doesn't mean that there are no letters, it states the number of "zero letters", whatever they might be!

disagree  David Wright: Doesn't make sense in this context. Why should it be relevant that a file contains a number of silent letters (unless of course it is a linguistic analysis of a text, which I don't think it is)
