I know this is a joint debtor who is liable jointly and severally but what about the "adjoint"? I've never heard of an assistant joint debtor - does something like this exist?

est le terme exact en anglais mais je n'arrive pas à situer le ôle de l'adjoint pour le traduire.
Le co-débiteur est nécessairement adjoint puisque ce n'est pas le débiteur principal. Il serait donc inutile de citer ce mot autant en bon français qu'en anglais; à moins que ce nes soit en français Canadien ou Suisse ?

agree  Conor McAuley: Sounds good to me. The "adjoint" bit depends on context, but "joint debtor" is a perfectly good translation of "co-débiteur", IMHO.
